Community Open House and Dedication Ceremony
For Immediate Release Contact: Andrea Whitmarsh
A Dedication Ceremony and Community Open House will take place Sunday, September 29 from 2pm to 5pm
Stanardsville, VA, September 17, 2019
More than four years ago, Greene County Schools engaged VMDO Architects to complete a facilities assessment and long-range visioning study to guide the next 20 years of facilities planning at GCPS. The study analyzed the existing conditions of facilities and enrollment growth projections to identify operational and capital needs for the long-term utilization of the schools and campuses. The results of this study indicated several needs including core spaces and site improvements.
This project marked the initial phase of the long-range plan and includes renovations and additions to William Monroe High School and Middle School as well as site improvements (road reconfiguration, new parking and landscaping) on the Stanardsville campus. Additional parking has also been added to the Ruckersville campus. Groundbreaking for this project took place in May 2018 and on September 29, a Community Open House and Dedication Ceremony will be held to mark the culmination of these improvements. The Dedication Ceremony will begin at 2pm in the William Monroe High School Cafeteria and will be followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony at William Monroe Middle School. The buildings will be open for viewing until 5pm that day. All are welcome!
