Virginia Preschool Initiative
Classes are located at Nathanael Greene Primary School, but applications are accepted from any family residing in Greene County. To be considered for the program, families must submit a complete application, and provide proof of residency and proof of income. Transportation is provided to all children accepted through school buses.
- Children must have turned four on or before September 30 of the school year
- Children must fall into an at-risk category:
- Family income at or below 200 percent of poverty
- Homelessness
- The student's parents or guardians are school dropouts
- Family income is less than 350 percent of federal poverty guidelines in the case of students with special needs or disabilities. The classrooms use the Houghton Mifflin preschool curriculum, which is aligned with the Foundation Blocks for Early Learning

Head Start
This is a federally funded program for children who are three or four by September 30 of the school year and who meet the financial guidelines set forth by the program. All questions should be directed to Skyline Cap Community Services.
