Do you realize that when you don’t read over the summer, you might fall behind? Well, we don’t want this to happen to you. Whenever you open a book, you will find yourself going on an adventure.
The NGES Library will be promoting three (four if going to the Middle School) wonderful summer reading programs. In fact, reading one book will count for all of these programs. It is like popping three balloons with one dart! The first is the Scholastic's "Read-A-Palooza" (May 6 - September 6, 2019). At this site, students will enter their screen name and password to log minutes read. Get ready to earn virtual prizes, learn about favorite authors (and read some of the books), and take a chance to win some prizes! If our school has the most minutes read in the state of Virginia, we will win the "Best in the State" award and given a celebratory party in a box. If you forget your screen name or password, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you don't have access to a computer to record minutes read, just complete the reading log given and Ms. McInturff will help you to record them when you return to school in August.
Go to: Scholastic's Read-A-Palooza to login your minutes read. Click on the image to login minutes read.
Every student will receive a Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Journal. If a child reads 8 books, he or she can earn a free book from Barnes and Noble. All he or she has to do is complete the journal and take it to Barnes and Noble between August 1 - August 31, 2019. If you loose your journal, go to: Barnes & Noble Summer Reading to get another one. *If you can't make it to Barnes and Noble during August, then turn your form into me when you return to school and I will get it for you.
