• Dr. Brenda Walton

It is certainly my pleasure to be named the principal of William Monroe Middle School. My name is Dr Brenda Walton, and I am a 24-year educator. As a graduate of Bridgewater College, my career began in Staunton City at Shelburne Middle School, teaching 7th grade Mathematics.  After three years, I returned to my hometown of Stuarts Draft to teach middle school Algebra and pursue a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision at the University of Virginia.  My first role as an administrator was at Stuarts Draft Elementary School.  What a great learning opportunity! After three years at the elementary level, I served as an assistant principal at Wilson Middle School, earned my Doctoral Degree from Shenandoah University, and I spent four years as principal at Stewart Middle School in Augusta County.  In 2016, I decided to branch out and accepted a position with Greene County Public Schools.  As the Director of Teaching and Learning from 2016-2020, I worked with the fine educators of Greene County on curriculum, professional development, assessment, and a variety of other areas. The dedication of our educators and support of the community led me back to my middle school roots and, in 2020, I accepted the position of principal at William Monroe Middle School.  It is truly my pleasure to serve as principal alongside this amazing and talented middle school faculty and staff.

Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement as we provide a quality education for each and every student.
