Greene County Technical Education Center bids farewell to student-built Habitat for Humanity home

Students and staff with Greene County Technical Education Center's Carpentry program said farewell Wednesday to the home they spent the past three years constructing.
The Greene County Habitat for Humanity transported the student-built house to its new forever home in Stanardsville. Instructor Thomas Mallory and his students watched as their passion project was lifted by a crane and moved via trailer to its new location. The house will be installed and finished by Habitat for Humanity in preparation for a local family to call it home.
"We are incredibly proud of the hard work that was put in by our instructor, Thomas Mallory, and his Carpentry students to make today a reality," said Jess Peregoy, principal of Greene County Technical Education Center.
"We are even more proud that this project will serve our community and stay right here at home in Greene County. We thank Habitat for Humanity for their partnership and look forward to working with them again in the future," said Peregoy.
