The Greene County Technical Education Center's Work-Based Learning program was recently featured on CBS19.

The Work-Based Learning program is part of a state-wide Virginia Department of Education initiative to increase participation in Work-Based Learning opportunities. There were 35 students in the program last year; 140 students are in the program this year. The program aims to better prepare students for the 21st century workforce by providing internships, job shadowing and workplace site visits.

"The experience that one gets while working, you really can't replicate that anywhere else. So, having that chance for them (students) to be able to get into a job experience is really invaluable," said Brain Ruby, GCTEC's Work-Based Learning coordinator.
