Greene County Technical Education Center (GCTEC) has unveiled a new courtyard to enhance student learning, made possible by a donation to the Greene Education Foundation (GEF).

The courtyard will be used as a flexible learning space, a space to combine classes for guest speakers, as well as a gathering space, according to GCTEC principal Jess Peregoy. The updated courtyard space includes concrete to make the space more readily available and low maintenance, permanent shade structures, outdoor electrical outlets, and the addition of outdoor furniture.

The funding used for the courtyard upgrades came from a donation from the Sansom family to the GEF with the request that the funds be used for the GCTEC.

“We are excited to have this updated courtyard available to our students and staff, as it will certainly add to the numerous and rewarding career and technical education experiences found at GCTEC,” said Dr. Kyle Pursel, assistant superintendent of Greene County Public Schools. “We are very thankful and appreciative of the Sansom family’s generous donation to GEF to make this new courtyard a reality,” added Pursel.
