Greene County Public Schools has received a $7,000 Bama Works grant to purchase art supplies for five of its schools.

The nonprofit Art Guild of Greene, which promotes artists in Greene and surrounding areas, applied for the grant earlier this year.

“We are extremely grateful to both Bama Works and the Art Guild of Greene for this grant, which will undoubtedly help spark the creative aspirations of our students throughout the division” said Dr. Andrea Whitmarsh, superintendent of Greene County Public Schools.

Some art supplies the grant will fund include a pugmill, 3D printer supplies, a color printer, and art bags.

The Art Guild of Greene supports the arts in Greene County Public Schools throughout the year by providing art scholarships for graduating seniors and funds for art supplies and needed equipment.
