The spring weather made for a sunny and pleasant 3rd annual Agriculture Day, which was recently hosted by William Monroe High School.

Agriculture Day was started a few years ago by William Monroe High School student Grant McDaniel, who wanted to find a creative way to educate his fellow students about the importance of agriculture in their everyday lives.

Students packed the field over two days and had many opportunities to participate in hands-on activities that gave them a sense for all the hard work it takes to run a farm, care for animals, and ensure food makes its way to our dinner tables.

Students had the chance to learn about hay bailing, gardening, tractor operation and welding in addition to fun activities such as hula hoop, cornhole and checkers.
