Why are we getting the iBoss screen?

Internet Connection

If your connection drops or begins to degrade, this can create a timing issue and the iBoss screen will appear. When this situation occurs, all sites are inaccessible.

VPNs

Has the student installed a VPN? A virtual private network (VPN) provides online privacy and anonymity by creating a private network from a public internet connection. Some students have installed VPNs to bypass our filtering system. Having a VPN installed could create an issue as the system will attempt to block access. Installation of a VPN is against the GCPS Acceptable Use Policy. If you know that this is the case, schedule a time with the school to drop off your student's Chromebook and we will uninstall the VPN. 

HughesNet

After speaking with technicians with HughesNet, it was recommended that web acceleration be turned off. You will need to contact HughesNet and request that this feature is disabled. There is no cost nor is there any impact on your overall service.

iBoss comes up when trying to do research

If the iBoss screen comes up on a website that will be used for school-related research, please let the teacher know. The teacher will then request that the page be unblocked and after review, we can unblock the site.
